In post-nuclear Manhattan, there are two kinds of survivors: humans and shifters. Cage After his older brother Ben was killed by shifters, Cage followed in Ben's footsteps and joined the military. His job is simple: protect the surviving civilians in the wreckage of Manhattan and put down the dangerous shifter mutants prowling the streets. Bitter with revenge, he can't wait for a chance to get even with the monsters who killed his brother. Bindi Half-wolf, half-human Bindi is one of Cage's monsters. She lives underground, hiding away from military patrols and protecting the ragtag pack of shifter children who have come to depend on her. She'd do anything to get out of the city and get her pack to safety, but nobody gets in - or out - of this city. On Christmas Eve, Cage catches Bindi -in human form - stealing extra rations for her pack. In a moment of pity he lets her go, but not without being struck by a sense that there's something special about her. Something... different. *** a Shifter Romance Series that will pull at your heartstrings *** When he finally discovers her secret, Cage must decide what's more important to him - finally avenging his brother, or saving the woman he's come to love. And Bindi will learn a lesson about humanity...and about love.

My Thoughts - 3 out of 5 Unicorns - I liked it!!! The Cover is haunting but beautiful all at the same time. It really gets your attention :) I liked this story. Things you might want to know is this is a novella. I’m not sure whether this is considered a serial series or not, but at least to me it seems to fit that mold. Each chapter is labeled at the beginning of whose POV it is. I only tell you this because some people do not like this, but it doesn’t bother me at all. I think this new world I’ve been introduced to is unique and different to other shifter books I’ve read. It has grabbed my interest in a big way, and I think it will only get better. Sometimes with novella and serial series it takes me a couple books before I’m completely connected to the characters and their lives, and it is also hard to learn a lot about a new world when it is a novella in only one book. I really like Bindi. She is so strong for a 20 year old taking care of a bunch of kids on her own in a world that hates her. The kids seem fun, but I don’t know enough about them other than Kit seems adorable :) Cage seems like a nice guy, but he is also blinded by his hate. How can you hate an entire group of people simply because one did something bad? But we have this problem in the real world, I have just never understood it. Even in high school, I had a friend whose dad was killed in Jamaica, he hated a whole group of people based on their skin color because of one person. It just makes no sense to me because there are good and bad people/animals in every group and species on the planet. Sorry off on a tangent…lol Aubrey and Nadia do a great job writing the story. I do not see any disconnect where you can tell two authors are writing it. I love the descriptions and learning about their world. I can’t wait to read more about this unique world. I recommend this novella to lovers of new worlds of shifters. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Powerful emotions and engaging characters; a must read! I loved this one! It kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first page. The urban setting is amazing; ghetto Manhattan, WOW! I'm glad to hear that the heat level is going to be turned up a bit in future books as well because the potential sexual for chemistry between these two is awesome! This is a well written new series that's going to the top of my Must-Read list! A copy of Shifting Fates was provided by that author in exchange for an honest review.

While I am not a huge fan of dystopian novels (I barely made it through the Hunger Games series and won't pick up Divergent...) I did find this very book quite visual and engaging. This didn't end on a complete cliff-hanger, but it also didn't do much more than establish the setting and characters for future chapters. I was a bit surprised to find myself done as quickly as I was- but I'll be back for more. Gotta see how it resolves! Total reading time 45 minutes.

An enjoyable start to a new series. I loved how the author set up this new world of shifters and how they came to be. The characters were fun and real. I could feel their emotions and can't wait for more. I'm curious as to what happens next not only with Cage and Bindi but the other shifters as well.

WHAT???? Let me start by saying that I love the world created by this writer. However, the second I felt any bond towards the characters or plot it was just over. I would like to continue this series but only seeing myself doing so if future books are moderately priced. This series has tons of potential. I'm just curious to see how long (or how many books) it will take for things to pick up.

Rudimentary writing The idea of this book was so exciting, but the writing made the story painful to read. Dialogue was stilted and lifeless. The characters were flat and had no expression. Was hoping for so much more.

I am such a huge fan of Nadia that I knew I just had to read this new series. The first two books are already out, and I think the third book is coming out soon. It is a really interesting concept. The story takes place in the future in the city where New York used to be. There was a war and some kind of disease they came from a bomb explosion, and it turned some people into shifters. They shift into all kinds of animals. Some of them turn into monsters, and because of that they are killed on sight pretty much. Bindi is a shifter and as such she has to live in hiding. She takes care of some orphaned kids and teenagers that were also turned into shifters. She steals extra rations from the city to get enough supplies and food for them to eat. I wasn't sure if they were just "nice" shifters, or if none of the shifters actually turned into monsters, but Bindi and the kids didn't at all like monsters. They seemed just like normal people that could shift. I want to see some "wild" shifters in the next book so I can compare how they act. Bindi basically lives in isolation with these kids that she takes care of, so when she meets Ben, the soldier and sparks fly it takes both of them by surprise. The book was too short for too much of a romance to develop, but they did have two really interesting meetings. I really look forward to seeing more of their "connection" develop. I want to know why it is that they react so strongly to each other. I really enjoyed Shifting Fates, but I wish it was longer. It seemed like it was over right after it was getting started. That is the only complaint I can think of. Everything else about this book is so good you will want to get lost within the pages of this book. The writing is wonderful and the detail is great. It is fast paced but not rushed. It's a novella series or a serial, but the books are released one at a time for the time being. After another book or two comes out, I would like to see them bundled so that they would equal a full length novel. I really love the concept, and the post war militarized control setting left in the destruction, but I want something more lengthy. I like this author duo. I can't wait to read book 2. **Note: I just discovered that if you sign up for the authors mailing list they will notify you when the series is complete if you enjoy reading the books that.** More reviews at http://bookbriefs.net

This story started out with a bang and ended on a cliff hanger...diving right into book 2 immediately.

Shifting Fates is a great story. Bindi is this strong but insecure girl who is trying survive in a world that is so different than what we live in. On top of that she has the taken on the responsibility of keeping others safe. From the moment I picked up this book, I was sucked into the story. In this world, shape shifters were created from radiation due to bombs dropped during a war. I thought this book was too short and therefore didn't explain enough about the world. *** I was given an ARC for my honest review. *** This story grabbed me at page one and sucked me in--could not put it down. I was absolutely fascinated by the characters and their intertwining relationships. The main character of Bindi displays such strength and responsibility. I was absolutely fascinated by the characters and their intertwining relationships. The main character of Bindi displays such strength and responsibility. I cannot wait to see where Ms. Simonenko and Ms. Rose takes us with this series!

I usually don't read post-apocalyptic world books but something about this book captivated me from the very beginning and had me on the edge till the very end leaving me wanting more. A supremely well-written story that keeps you guessing right up to the end. Shifting Fates has every possible thing you want in a book... tension, angst, fear, sadness, heartache, guilt, a great plot line and characters that you can empathize with. Received as an ARC for an honest review I honestly want more. Cage wants revenge for the death of his brother but at the end of the day I believe he wants to be an honest man. Cage is ordered to preform acts he doesn't believe in and his own compassion wins out twice. Bindi is a shifter trying to live and take care of children. All she seems to want is food and alittle peace, but then she meets a soldier. The sparks are there for both but they don't understand why. A good start to the serial, curious to see where it goes A good start to the serial. I like the original take on shifters. The first book of the serial basically introduced me to the main characters and the new world they existed in. Just enough information was given to wet my imagination to read the next in the serial. I don’t usually read serials, but the book blurb sounded very interesting.
