Lily's marriage didn't turn out the way she always imagined, yet she stuck with it through the good and bad. Out of nowhere, she's given the news that should have had her sad and broken but instead she was...okay. I know when I read that I thought, ‘wait what?’, but as I kept reading I understood why it seemed she was emotionless. Once you start reading this book, you'd better to be ready to read it through without any interruptions because you'll want to find out who, what, where, when and what Lily's marriage didn't turn out the way she always imagined, yet she stuck with it through the good and bad. This book really surprised me because there are so many twists, turns and bombshells that had me trying to piece together the puzzle that was in front of me. Isabelle Richards, what have you done to my heart and sanity?? I want….no, I need to know what will become of Gavin and Lily. I'm so glad I have book two because I need answers and I don't want to wait! ~ Kara, 4.5 stars ~~~ Let me start by congratulating Isabelle Richards on her debut! This was an amazing journey of a novel. It was like riding the Tilt-a-Whirl! My goodness, a lot happens on this book, and the fact that it was so very unpredictable kept me on my toes! Lily had a great back-story and was a very relateable character. I enjoyed being inside her mind during this book. Gavin is a sexy Brit who I'd jump "across the pond" for. I mean who doesn't love a sexy man with a British accent? Their chemistry is off the charts! What this book has is an edge of your seat ride that has you guessing from one minute to the next and your heart pounding! Great romantic suspense debut by Ms. Richards. Add this to your kindle queue and enjoy! ~ Erin, 4 pulse pounding stars

Lily married at a young age thinking she knew what love was, but boy was she wrong. Being married to a cheating addict put Lily thru the ringer!! Now has the chance to start from scratch. Make a life for herself, a single one. Until a sticky situation from the past throws her & Gavin together. 24/7. Alls said and done, their time together is up. Back to separate lifes. I must say after this part was heartbreaking for me. Gavin tried so many times to reconnect with Lily. Time and again. Again. Again. Again. Each & every time he was shot down. A constant tug of war that pulled at my heart strings for them to get their crap together. However this book is not just about them finding love. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Secrets. Revelations. Surprising events unfold. I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT BOOK 2 UNFOLDS!! *I was graciously gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review*

When Fates Collide was a story about Lily Preston and Gavin Edwards who connect through their spouses -- but in the most unconventional of manners. Lily's husband and Gavin's wife mutually kill one another as they, in a state of extreme high, speed down a road that leads to a drug house. Their cars meet head-on and they kill one another instantly. In a state of surreal shock, Lily receives this bit of information in a police interrogation room. Her reaction: uncontrollable laughter. See, Lily and her husband, Ashton, were not close. Actually, that's an understatement. Estranged while living in the same house is more accurate. Lily didn't love him but settled into a life of reasonable comfort with him after her life had been influx for most of her life. However, shortly after they married, Ash's true colors came to light and by then Lily had accepted her reality with him. Then Ash's father, Franklin, got seriously hurt and Lily became his primary care-giver. All this while watching Ash cheat, drug, connive and whatever else he did while giving no regard to her. Gavin's sordid tale was no better. British-born, he was a bit of a wild child in his youth but his rebellions often put him at odds with his family, which had loose connections to the Royal Family. Gavin settled a bit and then went to Oxford to pursue a medical degree but then decided to join the military as the biggest "up yours" to his family. While there Gavin actually learned how to care about the well-being of others and he came out of the service a much different person than the one who went in. Gavin and Brooke, a new Hollywood starlet and American sweetheart, cross paths and their love affair takes off. After Gavin marries Brooke, he discovers --all too quickly-- that the sweetheart isn't so sweet. Brooke is the female parallel to Ashton. She has a drug habit and will do anything for her next high, including using her body. So there lies the sad lives of Lily and Gavin when they meet. Gavin is also at the police station when the news is delivered about his life but whereas Lily didn't know anything about Ash's 'other' life, Gavin was actually assisting the multi-law enforcement agency operation to bring down the ring that Brooke (and Ash) was connected to. Lily and Gavin connect at the police station when he saves her from being a victim of the paparazzi who seem to have gotten wind of news about Brooke. Not the news that she died but that she was possibly in jail for a DUI. Fast forwarding a bit, Lily and Gavin are thrown together in close quarters as federal witnesses. Passion ignites between them but they resist as they are very newly widowed. But their situation and their living arrangements gives way to a deeper connection than neither one of them could have ever expected. Lily and Gavin become friends and their care and concern for one another carry them through as they deal with the fallout from the choices made by their spouses. As Lily and Gavin become immersed in their situation, they finally yield to their feelings. But Gavin's life and business in London require his attention. His burgeoning relationship with Lily may end before it begins. But Gavin makes the sweetest overtures in keeping what they have alive and well. Now, I won't share all the details of the story because it's quite intricate. There are plots and subplots and twists and turns that you don't want to miss. I enjoyed the story a good deal and appreciated the characters -- all but Lily. Lily was a tough pill to swallow most times. She endured a lot of drama but she really caused a lot of drama from Gavin. I just didn't care for her antics. It just seemed like she was always creating an issue between them when it didn't have to be one and then she would feel bad for acting out. And Gavin, bless him, endured it. Now, don't get me wrong, Lily wasn't annoying throughout the entire story. She actually redeems herself toward the end when she saves herself from a rough spot. I actually cheered for her then. As I mentioned, the story was quite intricate and well done. Very twisty with a plot that was very interesting, detailed, and enjoyable overall.

In a split second she is free, but at what cost? Her mundane life is set into a free-fall of tragedy and terror. Her husband may be out of her life, but he left a storm of collateral damage behind and the burden is on Lily to sort it out. Fate connects Lily with Gavin, a charmingly handsome British gentleman that has been drawn into her tangled circumstance. Gavin is everything Lily’s husband wasn’t and gives her hope that love really does exist. Gavin wants nothing more than to sweep Lily up and carry her off into the sunset, far away from the devastation left behind by her husband. Gavin has been the first breath of fresh air in her life, but she isn’t looking to be saved. She needs to clean up her husband’s mess and find a way to save herself in the process. Does she throw caution to the wind and open her heart? Or listen to her head that tells her and go it alone until she’s found herself again? What I Loved: Lily- Many times, the heroine can get irritating or obnoxious when they go through hardships. Not only was Lily stronger than she ever thought she was emotionally, she was physically too. Lily knew what she didn’t want to repeat from her past, and made it clear that she wasn’t willing to fall into the trap of rushing into something with Gavin just because it felt right. Gavin-Most heroes are swoon-worthy in the novels we read and Gavin doesn’t disappoint. I mean he is British, blonde, and blue-eyed. What sets Gavin apart from your typical hero is that he has an understanding of what Lily. Gavin sets out to make sure that he doesn’t pressure her too bad. Considering the fact that he is in the UK and Lily is in the US, Gavin can still romance Lily in what I refer to as across-the-pond-wooing. Flowers, calls, texting, and gifts. I want my own Gavin. While he is doing all this, he is putting his own demons to rest. Its nice to see the heroine and hero battling similar obstacles which essentially bring them together. Story-This is an action-packed ride. It is weaved in an awesomely delicate way so that the love story and the action were equal parts. Twists and turns that are unexpected, yet expected because you just know that Fate has to sometimes play games before it can collide. What I didn’t Love: There isn’t much. Maybe , if I absolutely have to say something, I would have preferred a bit more description of the main and secondary characters physical appearance. I try to be picky, but when a story is good, it’s just good and I see no need to carry on here with a lame attempt at finding something wrong because there wasn’t. Overall: Isabelle Richards secures her place in Indie Bookland with this debut. I have a feeling that what is offered from her, will always leave me wanting more, clenching my thighs, and my heart beating rapidly in my chest. A new AUTHOR TO WATCH for me!!!

There is plenty of laughs, but there is betrayal, suspense and danger, some a little implausible perhaps but I would love to see this book made into a movie. When Lily's no good husband dies in a car accident, she thinks she is supposed to feel sadness when the biggest emotion she feels is relief. Enter Gavin, the husband of the famous woman in the other car who was also killed. Definitely not the best set up for a romance, especially since their spouses are barely cold, but due to the peril surrounding her husband's death, they are thrown together for days and despite themselves, they find themselves attracted to each other. They were both in disastrous marriages, why not find happiness where you can? I loved these characters. Lily, while not always the brightest crayon in the box, is feisty, enchanting and so much fun, I laughed out loud over her smart mouth and sarcasm, even when her outcome wasn't looking great. I would love Em to be my friend, and Max too and while Gavin was the one who had Lily's heart, part of me did wish she would find her way to Max, I found him more likeable. While this book could perhaps have been a little shorter, it's a fast read and I found myself flying through it. And I liked it so much, as soon as I finished it, I instantly went onto Amazon and purchased the second part of Gavin and Lily's story.

There was the intrigue, the romance, and Gavin's British accent. But more importantly, there was the development of Lily. All of that combined to make a book that I dreaded to put down because I just had to know what happened next. Lily was hard not to like. Even without the horrible crap happening to her, I still would have liked her. Why? When she had nothing and could have very easily let someone else take care of her, she stood her ground and was determined to pull herself up and start over. On her own terms. It didn't matter who pushed her, Gavin, Max, Em....she was going to prove to herself she could get her life back on track. Gavin was adorable, in his sly alpha male kind of way. I loved the chemistry he had with Lily. The little competitions of the US vs. England were very funny and endeared me to him even more. He would get frustrated with Lily and her independence streak, but he understood why she was doing what he was doing. He was the best kind of man for Lily, proving to her not all men were like her ex. There is a second book coming out in the series (although this book does not end with a cliffhanger). I look forward to seeing what adventure Lily and Gavin have next.

Prior to Gavin coming into her life, Lily was married. She married Ash for all the wrong reasons and after 5 years of marrriage she led a completely independent life from her husband that was both a detriment and an advantage to her in the long term. A detriment because of the bad crowd he owed money to that were now chasing her to settle the debt. Advantage becuase it led her to meet Gavin. This is a faced paced and action filled mystery romance, so strap yourself in and get ready for the ride that these 2 will take you on. Gavin is English and I loved how throughout the entire book there was this greater banter between him and Lily and the other secondary characters on how great Engalnd was /or was not depending on which side of the pond you're from. Oh and Gavin is a former Calvin Klein model, related to the English Monarchy and a former military man. All that equals HOT!!! Lily and Gavins relationship is tumultous and I wanted to shake Lily a couple of times, but she finally got to where she needed to be and I breathed a sigh of relief. There were some real sweet moments between these two and I would have loved more. A huge "Congratulations" to you Isabelle Richards on your debut novel, and I look forward to the second book and more of this sexy englishman.

What great series, page turner. Gavin is a dream come true for Lily but they both have a past and they collide in the police station......Gavin's wife is dead and Lily's husband is dead....fates collide. Can Lily find herself before she is murdered, can she find her way back to Gavin and will Gavin wait for her? Murder, romance, fear..... All the best ingredients for a great story.

It starts off with our female lead, Lily Preston, being driven to the police station, not knowing why, but knowing it has something to do with her good-for-nothing husband. It turns out he has been killed in a head on collision which also killed a down on her luck actress, Brooke Livingston. It turns out that her husband and Brooke were both being investigated by the FBI as part of a huge drug dealing operation. Lily eventually learns that her husband owed some pretty nasty characters around 5 million dollars and they start coming to her to collect. Lily had strived to distance herself from her husbands scams and other business dealings, so she honestly has no idea what he did with the money. She is relieved that her husband is dead, and feels no remorse for his loss. She had been in a loveless marriage for 5 years, mostly staying with him to take care of his ailing father, who she did respect and saw as her own father figure. She meets Gavin Edwards, the estranged husband of Brooke Livingston. Gavin had tried to help his drug addicted wife, but she was beyond his saving. The two of them, Lily and Gavin, bond during this time as the FBI hides them in protective custody together while the investigation continues. Slowly, they begin to care for each other more than either thinks is appropriate at first, but they cannot deny the chemistry they feel for each other. Over their budding romance, the specter of the drug cartels and organized crime, hangs over everything. Not to mention the paparazzi who flock like buzzards over the scandal of Brooke's husband being seen with this strange beautiful blonde. Lily is a very strong woman, standing toe to toe with the crime lords and holding her own. She takes several beatings, but never gives up. I liked her a lot. And Gavin, with his chiseled looks and wonderful British accent is almost too good to be real. Over the course of the novel they are separated when he has to go to London to take care of his business, but Lily refuses to go with him, preferring to stay at home until all the messes her husband made are cleared up. A few things did not quite ring true to me, such as if Lily is so strong, why did she put up with her philandering and conman of a husband for so long? I also thought a visit by a special elderly crime lord was especially convenient. All in all though I liked the book. The ending felt like a complete ending to me, but the author states a second book in the series is eventually coming out. If you like your erotic romance with a lot of crime mystery thrown in, then you really should check this book out.

Most of all, however, I loved the romance that brewed up and the slow burn that eventually ignited into a full-blown flame. Gavin caught my attention right away and it didn’t take very long for me to fall in love with his character. (The British accent only helped matters, ha!) He’s sweet and charming, and from the get go he has Lily’s best interests at heart, which is evident by his actions. And of course some of the things he did are sexy as hell. Lily is an amazing character as well. She’s been through hell, but she’s so so so strong, and when most people would give up and say “screw it” to everything, she keeps moving forward. She’s determined to start over in a way that’s healthy for her. I loved watching her transformation through the book, from a semi-grieving widower to this almost butterfly that’s spreading her wings and taking flight and starting to do all of these things that she loves but was never able to do before. There’s chemistry between these two from the get go, but Richards doesn’t just let things blossom immediately. She gives us a slow burn, and as these two go through ups and downs together, we start to see a romance budding between them. There was a point in time when I got a little irritated with Lily’s hesitation about Gavin. I got it and I understood the reasoning behind it, but it eventually seemed like it was just drawn out a little too much. Overall, I loved this book. I got hooked on it, there was so much action, and it was very, very well written. I liked the characters, there was good development, the details between the back story and the present were consistent, and honestly, once I got to the big climactic part, I had to keep reading and didn’t stop until I had everything finished. I love when authors write in a way that makes me feel like I’m actually living in the story, and that’s how Richards wrote this one. I would love to read more of Isabelle’s work, and can’t wait until the next book in this series drops. I’m craving more of Gavin and Lily, and I think if you give this story a chance, you will be too!

4.5 Stars I'm not usually a fan of romantic suspense and mob/crime family story lines because I have a lot of trouble keeping up with them. The elements of organized crime in this one were a little more simple to follow along with and not so over the top that I couldn't believe in them. Gavin is the best and bonus points for him being British!!! I love that he wanted to take care of Lily and that he did what he could to make that happen but he wasn't pushy, controlling or manipulative about it. Even just the suspense is great, but adding in their fantastic relationship made it so much better! This book is already in my list of top favorites and I am suggesting it to anyone who will listen! ;)

How could you not pick this book up and be hooked? Loved the authors writing style! This story line was different and the story was very original. I received this ARC, for an honest review. I loved this book! The story begins with Lily being transported to the police station. From there she learns her husband has been killed in a car accident and is now in danger. Fate definitely plays a role in Lily's life because she meets Gavin at the station and their lives are thrown together. While spending time together, we watch their relationship grow even if there is an ocean between them most of the time. I give this book 5+ stars. I really enjoyed this book. I could not put it down it was that good. I read it within 2 days staying up late both nights to finish it and I am so glad I did it. The story was an awesome love story between 2 unlikely people. It has some super steamy scenes that I could not stop reading they made me love the book more than any other book I have read in a while. I will recommend this book to all of my friends who love books like that.

3 Stars Overall Opinion: This wasn't exactly like I expected. It was a lot of action (and I don't mean just between the sheets) and suspense going on in this one. There was a romance going on, but I felt like it was put as a side story because of all the rest going on (which often happens in romantic-suspense genre). It wasn't bad, but just not what I expected. It wasn't bad, but just not what I expected. I had some major issues with Lily and her bad attitude towards Gavin towards the 3/4 point...she kind of ruined it for me and I'm not sure if I'll continue on with the next one: When Fate Isn't Enough because of her. Storyline: This is the beginning of Lily and Gavin's story in the When Fates Collide Box Set trilogy. The story starts when Lily is picked up and taken to the police station and interrogated by FBI agents. Her husband was in a car accident and died along with the other driver. We meet Gavin because his wife was the other driver. We quickly learn that neither of them are surprised that their spouses were linked to bad people (Italian mob) and really high when they wrecked. Neither of their marriages where happy. Lily had been in the marriage only because she was taking care of her ailing father-in-law, and Gavin's wife (who was a famous actress) was a drug addict that he had lost to her addiction. For safety reasons, the duo get stuck together 24/7 while the FBI tried to put away the guys that might come after them. During this time, they become fast friends and find comfort in each other during this bad time. When it is time to separate and Gavin has to go back to London where he lives, the couple decides that they want to cross the line and make their relationship more than just friends. A new friendship bonds with a new roommate, the couple has some steamy times, they deal with the Italian mob and even the Mexican cartel, they deal with paparazzi and bad press, have some drama with a jealous co-worker, and deal with the general drama that goes with a long distance relationship...but the couple find their HFN at the end. POV: This was in Lily's POV and then a few chapters towards the end with Gavin's POV Overall Pace of Story: Good. No slow parts or instalove. H rating: 4 stars. Gavin. I liked how he was loyal and always tried to take care of Lily (even when she fought it). h rating: 2 stars. Lily. I liked her sarcasm, but sometimes it seemed like the was too much to make her funny. I really hates her pessimism too. As much as I don't want to admit it, I am probably a pessimist at heart (at least in regards to myself)...but her attitude was so off putting. I hated how she pushed Gavin away! This part ruined her character for me. He was being sweet and just asking for more, and she wouldn't give him any comfort and pushed him away instead. Her character makes me hesitate with continuing on to the next book. Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed, but lots of drama going on. Heat level: Moderate. The couple do have some steamy times. Descriptive sex: Yes. Sex scene with OW or OM: (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Cheating: (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Possible Triggers: (view spoiler)[ Kidnapping with beating and some groping. (hide spoiler)] Closure: This is part of a trilogy, so no closure yet. It seems to have put them on a good path to find their HEA, so I'll say it was a HFN ending. No major cliffhanger, but lots of unanswered questions. I have some predictions as to upcoming drama too...(view spoiler)[Prediction: Gavin's family, the media, Olivia, and Lily's rising career drama. (hide spoiler)]

This is the story of Lily and Gavin. Their lives are thrown together in the blink of an eye. Lily is now a widow, her world is about to change like she would never have imagined. All she knows is how to be a housewife and a caregiver, she is a shell of her former self. She meets Gavin within minutes of finding out about her husbands demise. All she knows is how to be a housewife and a caregiver, she is a shell of her former self. She meets Gavin within minutes of finding out about her husbands demise. He is British (and of course his voice represented as much in my head!), a former underwear model, former military, and runs a huge company in England….he’s the whole package! When all of this happens they are placed in FBI protection and will spend 24/7 with each other. Gavin seems to be able to lighten the mood and make Lily comfortable. “I really don’t feel comfortable taking their rooms. They have been kind enough to let us stay here. I feel like it’s an intrusion. So, I made a fort. What do you think?” How freaking adorable…and fun too! For days on end they talk, play games, and become more than just victims of a tragedy. Lily is a strong woman, she understands that she needs to heal but she can’t do it alone. “A crazy twist of fate brought us together on this insane ride, and I’m not sure I can do it without you!” Their comforting ways turns into so much more. Gavin and Lily are so attracted to each other, but is this the right time for it all? He is sooooooo smooth, a real gentleman….I was totally swooning over him! “I make it about halfway to the elevator, when he grabs me and spins me around and plants a deep kiss on me. As we break, he winks and walks away, back on the phone. That man sure knows how to make a girl feel special.” Lily’s life is turned upside down, twisted sideways, and flopped all around. She is determined to save herself and clean up the mess that her husband left behind. However, Gavin wants what Lily can’t give him right now. It was kind of frustrating because she wants him, badly, really badly, but she is so independent right now and she keeps pushing him away. This doesn’t stop Gavin…he is persistent. “Those five days with you were like a slice of heaven. I know it is warped because of why we were there. It’s twisted, but true. We had this instant and powerful connection.” “I”m with you because I’m consumed with you…every moment of every day.” Of course things can’t just fall into place, there is a twist. Horrible events that will change who they are and where they will end up. Bad guys and misunderstandings always seem to get in their way. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for it all to work out! Fate is a wicked bitch. “Life is an endless assault of curveballs. I mean look at us, the only reason we’re together is because your crazy crashed into my crazy.” Be sure to meet Lily and Gavin, you won’t want to miss this story :)

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Lily Preston’s life has not been an easy one - losing her family at an early age, the man she married turning out to be a drug-using philandering jerk who forced her into spending her days looking after her invalid father-in-law while her husband spent his days pissing away the family fortune and running the family business into the ground… Evidently fate had other plans for her. When her husband is killed in a head-on collision, Lily meets Gavin Edwards - former Calvin Klein model and notorious British bad-boy. When Gavin sent his wife, America’s former sweetheart Brooke Livingston, back to spend time with her family in the States, he had no idea that her drug addiction would end up getting her killed. Nor did he anticipate that event leading him to Lily Preston. Ashton Preston’s death was certainly unexpected, but the news that he was under investigation for his associations with a drug cartel and the mafia were definitely a shock. Between that and Brooke Livingston’s involvement with a well-known drug dealer, the police, FBI and DEA decide to sequester Gavin and Lily in an attempt to keep the proverbial shit from hitting the fan with the press, ruining their efforts on the case. While both Lily and Gavin are grieving their losses, their time together forces them to get to know one another. Neither of them was happy in their marriage, but they never figured they would feel such an intense connection so soon after losing their spouse. Unfortunately, their little vacation from reality comes to an end and Gavin has to go back to London to run his business. Having a clean slate, Lily decides to reinvent herself. She and Gavin try to keep their connection with an ocean between them. But her late husband’s criminal activities haunt Lily. Between that and her newfound ‘freedom’, problems abound between her and Gavin. Can their relationship survive distance and the mayhem left behind by her no-good husband? When Fates Collide has it all: romance, sex, humor, and a plot that will have you wondering what is going to happen next. Isabelle Richards is an incredible new talent. The plot twists and turns like the road to Hana. Her characters have depth, intelligence, and incredible wit. The banter between characters at times had me laughing so hard I was clutching my ribs. And the sex scenes? *fans self* Let’s just say I wish I had me a Gavin! And great news for those who hate long waits between books: When Fate Isn’t Enough is scheduled to release at the end of February, and the last book, When Fates Align, is due soon after.

When a tragedy claims the lives of their respective spouses, Gavin and Lily are forced to pick up the pieces. What’s worse is that the two are now the targets of both the mafia and a drug cartel due to their deceased significant others criminal activity. What would be a difficult situation to begin with becomes even further complicated by the fact that Gavin’s wife is a celebrity, so of course the paparazzi is on their trail as well. It soon becomes apparent that Lily’s life is in danger, but are all of the agencies involved, both local and federal, enough to keep Lily safe? Gavin’s wife was America’s sweetheart when she appeared on a television show years ago, but as she grew older, roles were harder and harder to find, leaving her in a depression that she self-medicated with drugs. Lily’s husband has always been involved in one criminal activity or another, and was a serial adulterer on top of it. As they get to the bottom of just how their spouses lives were intertwined, Gavin and Lily become closer, a relationship that quickly evolves into a hot, steamy affair. But complicating their relationship is Gavin’s position as the CEO of his family’s company, which is headquartered in London. Gavin wants Lily to join him overseas so that they can pursue a real relationship, however Lily wants to pursue her writing career. She has always depended on her husband and wants to take the opportunity to finally stand on her two feet, to find out who she really is. But will Lily’s independence be what ultimately leads the cartel and mafia to her, so that they can exact the revenge meant for her husband? Will Lily’s stubbornness to let Gavin take care of her drive him away forever? When Fates Collide is an excellent edge of your seat, sexy thriller. The relationship between Gavin and Lily is hot, no doubt about it. But even more compelling about the story are the relationships that both Gavin and Lily develop with those keeping them safe. The almost sibling bond that Lily has with the FBI agents protecting her makes for some great comic relief, given how snarky Lily’s attitude is (and at times downright hilarious). There were some parts that I wanted to take hold of her and knock some sense into her because she seemed to bring perhaps a little too much emotional angst to the table at times, but overall this is an excellent debut by Richards. The storyline was well written and the characters well crafted. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series, When Fate Isn’t Enough, releasing in February.

While their romance blossoms, the specter of the drug cartels and organized crime hangs over everything. I also thought a visit by a special elderly crime lord guardian angel was especially convenient. All in all though I liked the book. The ending felt like a complete ending to me, but the author states a second book in the series is eventually coming out. If you like your erotic romance with a lot of crime mystery thrown in, then you really should check this book out.

The synopsis gripped me right from the very beginning. I must say that this book had some unexpected twists and turns that even I couldn't have seen coming... Lily and Gavin are an unlikely match brought together by tragedy that stole both of their spouses. What happens when the unexpected is thrown in your lap. For Lily the loss of her husband was a huge weight of her shoulders, now you might say wow that's cold, but in this very case... Well... Justice was served ten fold. The guy was a horrible human being let alone not fit to be a husband. As all of his secrets were unraveled Lily became more and more of a pawn in a dangerous game she didn't even know he was playing! This man had his hand in a LOT of cookie jars. Gavin was dealing with his own grief over his loss, and to tell you the truth, as much as I felt for him, I felt he was better off. The owner of a multi-million dollar company Gavin didn't have time to play the games he was forced to play with his wife. Her downward spiral was costing him his job, his life and his happiness. When Lily and Gavin are thrown together for their own protection, their banter, bickering, push and pull, will make you stand up and cheer! They seem so perfect for each other. But paradise it is not, while they are trying to mend their hearts, find their true happiness they are thrown massive curve balls. Misunderstandings and shattered and torn insecurities plague this couple, and as hard as they fight to be together, they continue to push each other away for fear of rejection. It's a true struggle on both of their parts. Knowing ahead of time that this was a three part series I knew that going in I wasn't going to have the beautiful HEA at the end of this book, but I truly feel like Isabelle left us off at a great spot, with a more of a too be continued feeling. For a first time author I found that this book had a great well thought out plot, beautifully developed characters, a solid foundation for the building of a second chance at love, and one incredibly hot, sexy and suave British man! Gah! I really did fall very hard for Gavin in this book, and only hope that there are more good things to come.... I truly enjoyed this one and I would recommend it if you love romantic suspense with some twists that will truly keep you on the edge of your seat...

I also can't say that I didn't roll my eyes at the circumstance that Lily found herself in thinking this sounded more like and absurd movie plot. But the more I read the more I couldn't stop. The more I read the more intrigued I got. The more intrigued I got the more I fell in love with Lily and Gavin. Lily was awesome. She cursed, she ate burgers and fries and didn't worry if her ass got fat and she was the ultimate smart-ass! She was, however, emotionally damaged. Her jackass of a husband (late husband - you'll get it once you read the book) made it hard for her to really love, so much so that it was hard for her to truly let Gavin in. At first I didn't understand why she was pushing him away at every turn but the more she revealed about her past the more I got it. One thing she didn't do was bite her tongue. With her new found freedom she refused to let anyone bully her anymore. I think I totally fell in love with her when she said this about her hubby: "Ash should be nowhere near the drug trade. I've watched The Wire. I listened to Biggie. What's the first rule? 'Don't get high on your own supply'. Ash never had the self-control to follow that" ~Lily Gavin was also a great character. His British accent and the way he loved made you fall for his character immediately. Actually the whole cast of characters where great. I enjoyed every single one down to the villain(s). Each bought something to the story instead of being just...seat fillers. This wasn't just a good love story it was a great story, period. Even though I was thinking "yeah right" for some things and rolling my eyes at others, it made for a great fictional read. Remember when I said that a book is truly good when you can see it playing out in your mind like a movie. Yeah...I totally see this like that. Whether it’s fate or coincidence (but judging by the title of the book I’m going with fate), they are thrown together into each others lives. Add in some hilarious bickering, some sweet and beautiful moments, and of course increasing tension-filled passion and you get the story of Lily and Gavin. Lily was a good female character – even though she was struggling to find herself and I just wanted to shake some sense into her. At the end she redeems herself and I was happy with how things turned out in the end. While I understand where she was coming from regarding her relationship with Gavin, sometimes I just wished she would give the poor guy a break – he was trying to hard! Gavin was a great character as well, sometimes I felt bad for him but he had a lot of determination in regards to winning Lily over. Overall, their scenes together were entertaining and their banter was funny! The plot of this book was exciting, and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It’s an intricately woven and well-developed storyline that definitely adds something really unique to the book as a whole. There were so many things going on, not enough to make you overwhelmed, but enough to keep you reading and wondering how everything will eventually play out. The writing style complimented the book nicely, and it allowed the reader to see the depth, intelligence, and personality of the characters well. Overall a pretty good first book from Isabelle Richards! I’d recommend it to anyone who likes a romance story with a few exciting twists and turns along the way. If you read it and enjoy it, don’t worry because the next book in the series is set to be out late February!

I am so in awe! This is this authors first book! I absolutely loved this book. I was gifted this book in exchange for my review. I am so honored that I was allowed to read this book and give my review. I could not believe how Gavin and Lily met. This title was so fitting! At first, Gavin and Lily thought what they were feeling was just grief from the situation they ended up in. At first, Gavin and Lily thought what they were feeling was just grief from the situation they ended up in. It took them just a little while to admit there was some sort of real connection between them. Let me just say, I loved the nickname for Lily's husband give to him by her best friend! Her husband was a piece of work. The mess that Lily ends up in at his hands is just beyond me. Lily would probably kill him if she could get her hands on him! That's a laugh! Lily is stronger than she gives herself credit for. What she works her way through is more than any one person should ever have to handle in one lifetime! I love her friend Em. I think everyone needs a friend like Em to help keep you in check; through good times and bad. That one friend that isn't afraid to call you on your crap and not care how you feel about it. Then there's Gavin. I have a "thing" for the English accent so I crack up every time Lily asks him to repeat words! Gavin finds himself tangled in Lily's mess in a most unfortunate way and he completely understands Lily. It is almost scary how in-tune he is with Lily. But what a hot, sexy man full of worldly life experiences. I could have just screamed at Lily for being so stubborn. I relate to her so much. I have to fix things, handle them on my own. It would be so easy to let a man just sweep you away, but reality always has a way of catching up with you. So. just handle things and move on! Poor Lily, she couldn't get past one emergency before the next blew up. Drowning would have been pleasant at some point, but still wouldn't solve anything! This is such a great book. I just had to power through and find out how things worked out.

As she runs from the room to get air she runs into sexy Brit Gavin. His movie star wife was the driver of the other car. They both feel something for the other almost immediately and hate themselves for it. I mean their significant others just died. But we learn that both had many hidden secrets and none of them good. As they are made to room together in a hotel as the police and other organizations try to make arrest. We learn her husbands secrets are far and deep and effect her and others. FBI, police and others are interested in his activities. She is plucked from a hotel room she is staying in with Gavin, separate rooms people!!!!!! Kidnapped and told she owes the cartel #5 million dollars that her husband stole. Lily is no joke as a heroine! Beautiful, strong and willing to risk all to make things right. Gavin is a great hero also, Sexy, strong and best of all not perfect. THIS IS A MUST READ PEOPLE!!!! 5 frigging stars!!!! Amazing that this is a first book from an author.
